Anyone who is honest will tell you that winning all of the time on the horses is not possible, but it is easy to lessen your chances of losing.

If you use a bit of common sense and some personal discipline, you can find betting on the horses an enjoyable and profitable past time.

Below are a few rules we live by:

Never bet on Heavy tracks
(Form tends to go out the window when the track is saturated).

Never bet on races with more than 14 horses in it
(The greater number of horses, the harder it is to pick a winner).

Listen to the experts.
(they follow racing for a living and should have a good idea of what should do well on a given track).

If you have a really good win on a race. Stop betting for the day.
(This is really hard to do but it will ensure you remain profitable)

Don't get greedy, bet in small amounts.
(If you use Tote and Bookie Beater, the software will calculate how much you need to bet to recover previous losses, so you want to make sure your previous losses are as small as possible)

Bet on small fields.
(Where the odds work, try to bet on small fields, it will increase your chances of winning)
